What's new in 1.0.8.11

Bluetooth headphones no longer silence the other side. On macOS 14.4 and later Daisy records system audio a new way that works in call mode too. It asks once for the System Audio Recording permission, on its own screen and not in the middle of a call; if that capture ever stays silent, the recording switches back to the old way on the spot.
Fewer gaps in the other side's speech. Audible stretches the final transcript missed are read again.
A recording cut short by the next one gets its final transcript and summary, in the same recording. Holding the dictation key right after a meeting no longer interrupts the meeting at all.
Echo from the speakers is cut out of your own lines, and switching microphones mid-recording no longer shifts what you say after it.
The "can't hear the other side" warning goes away by itself as soon as the sound is back.
Audio diagnostics during a recording show the recording's own levels and devices, including headphones connected or removed mid-recording. Permissions have a System Audio Recording row.
Install a downloaded update from the menu: "Check for Updates" becomes "Install Daisy … and Restart".
The widget is ready for the next recording the moment you press Stop, its petals follow your voice more visibly, and its resting centre is white. The menu-bar icon is a little larger. Headings use a rounded font.
Voice Memos import has moved to Daisy for iPhone. The Mac no longer scans the Voice Memos folder.

What's new in 1.0.8.10

Dictate right after a meeting. Holding the dictation key while the last meeting is still being finished no longer cancels its final transcript and summary — the dictation runs alongside and pastes in seconds.
Echo from the speakers is cut out of your own lines. Without headphones, the other side's words picked up by your microphone no longer end up in your line of the transcript; your own words stay.
Your lines stay in step with the other side. Switching microphones mid-recording (say, taking off Bluetooth headphones) no longer shifts everything you say after it a few seconds early.
Fewer gaps in the other side's speech. Speech the final pass dropped is re-read without your vocabulary hints, which were the cause on long stretches.
Audio diagnostics follow your devices during a recording and name the microphone the recording is actually using.
Install the downloaded update from the menu. Once an update is ready, "Check for Updates" becomes "Install Daisy … and Restart".

What's new in 1.0.8.9

Audio diagnostics during a recording show what the recording hears. The microphone and other-side meters used to read "silence" while a recording ran, which looked like a dead microphone; they now show the recording's own levels.
A recording cut short by the next one gets its final transcript and summary. Starting a new recording right after Stop used to leave the previous one with its draft text and no summary; Daisy now finishes it in the background, in the same recording.

No more gaps in the other side's transcript. When speech and something repetitive — a song's chorus, a jingle — landed in the same stretch, the final transcript could drop several seconds of clear speech. Daisy now goes back over any audible stretch that came out without text and transcribes it again.
Ready for the next recording the moment you press Stop. The widget no longer shows a separate "summary" state: summaries are made in the background, and the flower is ready to record again straight away.

What's new in 1.0.8.7

Settings → Permissions shows System Audio Recording — allowed, not allowed or not asked yet — with a way to allow it or check again. Screen Recording is now the fallback it is.
The audio diagnostics meters no longer freeze. Changing a setting on that screen could leave the microphone meter stuck on an old level while the microphone was fine.
If the system-audio capture starts silent, Daisy restarts it — for example when headphones switch to call mode at the very moment a recording starts.
Voice Memos import has moved to Daisy for iPhone. On the Mac the import, its settings and the Full Disk Access request are gone; recordings imported earlier stay where they are.
The Permissions screen drops its "Optional" badges.

The permission check works in Bluetooth headphones too. Daisy checks that it may record system sound by listening for a tone nobody hears. It now plays that tone on the Mac's own output, so headphones in a call can no longer make the check read "not allowed".

What's new in 1.0.8.5

The other side is recorded in Bluetooth headphones. When a call app switched AirPods or another headset into call mode, Daisy could lose the other side for the whole meeting. Daisy now listens to system sound directly — it asks macOS once for System Audio Recording (sound only, no screen), on its own window, not in the middle of a call.
If the way Daisy listens goes quiet, it tries the other one in the same recording, without losing the timeline.
A shorter warning when Daisy can't hear the other side: switch from Bluetooth headphones to wired ones or the device speakers.
Changes of output device while a recording is starting are no longer missed.

"Can't hear the other side" now clears itself. If Daisy warned that it couldn't hear the other side — sound going to AirPods, say — and you switched to the speakers, the warning stayed up until the end of the meeting although the other side was being recorded again. Now it comes down the moment they can be heard, with a short "The other side can be heard again".
The flower answers your voice more clearly. While recording, the petals move over twice the range they did.

What's new in 1.0.8.2

System audio no longer gives up in the middle of a meeting. When macOS stops the capture stream, Daisy restarts it — and keeps doing so for the whole recording, backing off only if it dies several times within two minutes. Before, the third stop ended system capture for good and the rest of the meeting kept only your microphone.
If the other side is lost, you are told where you are looking. A notification and a pill appear every time, with a Restart capture button; the warning stays until you close it, and Daisy says so when the sound comes back.
Bluetooth headphones: if system audio delivers nothing at all in the first 35 seconds, Daisy says so right away and suggests switching output to the speakers or wired headphones.
Repetition loops are removed from the live transcript — a phrase going round («I know that I know that I know…»), or a run of the same short line like "Thank you." after a call has ended. Real repetition in speech is left alone.
A new recording no longer cancels the previous one's final pass. It is queued and runs a minute later.
An update never ends a recording. Background checks wait while you record, and an update set to install on quit is offered when nothing is recording — a menu-bar app is rarely quit, so the fixes used to never arrive.
Release notes and the update window speak Russian; the menu-bar widget shows a failing system-audio source with a warning mark, not colour alone; small captions are easier to read.

What's new in 1.0.8.1

**Fixes a slow first launch after updating.** 1.0.8 asked the old macOS keychain for every saved key while starting up, which on some Macs — a profile moved from another machine, restored from a backup, or an earlier build of Daisy — made the system show a permission dialog before the window appeared, and Daisy stood still until it was answered. Daisy now starts without touching the old keychain: keys that still live there are fetched afterwards, with the app already on screen.
Everything from 1.0.8: sync with Daisy for iPhone (off by default), speakers for phone recordings, shared folders, `.daisy` export, photos added later, one button vocabulary.

What's new in 1.0.8

**Daisy for iPhone can now sync with this Mac — off by default.** Nothing leaves your Mac until you turn it on in Settings → General → Sync, and turning it on first shows you exactly what goes where: the text of your sessions (transcript, summary, title, date, folder, speaker names, screenshots) into the private CloudKit database of your own Apple ID, end-to-end encrypted when Advanced Data Protection is on. Recordings never go through the cloud: the iPhone hands them to this Mac directly on the local network, only when asked, and only if you have paired the two. Turning sync off stops sending; "Delete my data from iCloud" removes what was sent.
**Sessions recorded on the iPhone get their speakers on the Mac.** When the phone hands a recording over, the Mac separates the voices, finds you by your voice profile and labels everyone else — and the names ride back to the phone as text. A phone session is marked `daisy_origin: iphone` in its transcript.
**Folders are shared with the iPhone.** Create, rename or delete a folder on either device and the other follows; a session moved into a folder on the phone lands in the same folder here.
**Deleting a session on one device moves the other device's copy to a hidden `.daisy-trash` folder beside your sessions** — kept for 30 days, never silently destroyed. A folder that is merely missing (moved by hand, on a disconnected disk) is never treated as a deletion.
**Export as `.daisy`.** Right-click a session (or several) in the Library → Export… produces a `.daisy` archive the iPhone opens directly. The older `.daisysession` name still opens.
**Photos added after the recording** appear in the session with a "added later" mark, and text edits made on the phone survive a re-transcription here.
**One button vocabulary across the app** — ink and gray, amber only for a live microphone — and the brand reads "addicted", lowercase, in About.
Your provider keys, Notion and Google connections move to the shared, synchronizable keychain so the iPhone can use the same keys; the old entries are kept, so going back to an earlier version keeps everything connected.

What's new in 1.0.7.72

**Back-to-back meetings no longer cut each other off.** When the next calendar meeting starts while you're still recording, Daisy asks on the widget — "Next meeting — switch recording?" — instead of silently ending the current session. Tap to switch; ignore to keep recording.
**The "Stop & save?" question is smarter.** It now appears only when the meeting is past its scheduled end and *both* sides have gone quiet. If Daisy has lost the other side's audio, it no longer mistakes your listening for an empty room.
**The other side comes back after the screen sleeps.** If system-audio capture died because the display went to sleep or the lid closed, Daisy now retries as soon as a display is back, tells you when it has the other side again, and keeps the recording's timeline intact.
**Dictation never touches your clipboard.** When an app won't accept a direct insert (web apps, Electron), Daisy now types your words instead of pasting them — so whatever you had copied stays copied. The old clipboard route is available under Settings → Dictation → "Paste through the clipboard" for apps that autocomplete as you type.
**Re-transcription can be stopped**, and it shows progress in minutes instead of a bare spinner.
**First launch ends with model preparation.** Choose a speech model, let Daisy download and verify it, then record. Speech detection and speaker separation are optional and finish in the background; "Skip for now" hands you the app right away. A failed model can be downloaded again from Settings → Transcription, with the previous files kept for diagnostics.
Recording waits for a model that is still loading instead of refusing; a model that just failed isn't reloaded on every dictation; model preparation steps aside while a recording is running.

**Dictation is fast again.** The optional "polish in my voice" rewrite has been removed: it added about seven seconds between letting go of the key and seeing your text, and sent every dictation to your summary provider. Your style profile is still there and still learned from your dictation — it just applies where it belongs, to follow-ups and to the rewrite shortcut, rather than to text that is already in your own words.
**Everything you can click now looks like it.** The sidebar's own rows and the Record button light up under the pointer, like Settings and About already did.

**Merge speakers who got split in two.** When the same person comes back after a pause and lands as a second speaker, open the speaker's menu and pick "Same person as…" — both labels collapse into one name everywhere in the transcript. "Split" undoes it.
**Export your dictionary.** The Vocabulary tab now writes every term and correction to a text file in the same format bulk import reads, so you can back it up, edit it in bulk, or carry it to another Mac.
**Everything you can click now says so.** Sidebar rows, buttons, Library chips and card headers light up under the pointer. Card headers also open and close from anywhere along the header, not just the chevron.
**One row of filters in the Library.** All, Recordings, Notes and your projects sit in a single row, and the tag filter stays put when you switch between them instead of quietly clearing itself. A filter that matches nothing now explains why rather than showing an empty page.
**Fixed: deleting a multi-selection could remove recordings you couldn't see.** Selecting several rows and then narrowing the list by tag left Delete acting on the original selection, including the rows the filter had hidden. Bulk actions now only ever touch what's on screen.
**"Voice" is now "My style"** in the sidebar — it was never about the microphone.

What's new in 1.0.7.68

**Import your own recordings.** Drop audio files (m4a, mp3, wav, aiff, aac, flac) or videos (mp4, mov, m4v — only the sound is kept) onto the Library, or open them with Daisy from Finder or the Dock. Each file becomes a recording with the file's own date and name; a dropped folder becomes a project. Choose copy or move, and transcribe now, later, or tonight at a time you pick — the queue lives on disk, waits for any live recording to finish, and survives sleep and quitting.
**Notes and recordings are one Library.** Instead of two sidebar entries there is a single Library with an All / Recordings / Notes filter — same folders, tags and files, told apart by one chip.
**Settings and About sit in the sidebar's lower group** with the same typography and icons as the rows above them.
**Widget menu tidied.** The Hide submenu is gone; its three options sit directly in the menu, without the odd white highlight.

**Connections moved into Settings.** Notion, the MCP server and auto-routing now live under Settings → Connections instead of taking up a sidebar row — they're set up once and rarely revisited.
**The live dictation caption sits level with the flower.** It used to float one slot above the widget; now it's centred on it, and only steps aside when another prompt is showing at the same time.
**Apple's speech engine can't be chosen for a language it doesn't support.** The option is greyed out with the reason, and an existing Apple selection under such a language falls back to Whisper — the engine that was doing the work all along.
**Clearer diagnostics.** A failed connection to an MCP summary provider now names the server it couldn't reach, and releasing the dictation key no longer logs a spurious error.

What's new in 1.0.7.66

**Live dictation preview actually shows your words.** Turning on "Live preview while dictating" was, until now, exactly what turned it off: the streaming engine it enables never fed the caption pill. It does now, and the pill closes the moment you release the key instead of flashing back over the paste.
**Nothing is lost when the final pass comes back empty.** A finishing pass that produced no text used to wipe the transcript you already had — and, if you keep audio only until it's transcribed, the recording went with it. Both are fixed: no transcript, no deletion, ever.
**Your first-run settings survive the second launch.** The dictation hotkey (Fn), automatic summaries and your audio-retention choice were being re-decided on every start and quietly reverted after the first restart. They're now saved when they're chosen.
**Long meetings stay responsive.** Speaker separation was re-analysing the entire meeting on the main thread every 15 seconds — past the twenty-minute mark the interface barely moved. It now processes only what's new, in the background. Screen-text extraction after Stop moved off the main thread too: no more minute-long freeze at the end of a meeting with screenshots.
**Releasing the dictation key always stops the recording.** Letting go while Daisy was still loading its model left the microphone open with no way to stop it, and the next press answered "already recording".
**Daisy tells you when something is off instead of writing it to a log.** When there's no room on the disk it says the meeting is being recorded without audio — and the recording itself now remembers why, instead of showing an empty player weeks later. It says which microphone it's actually using when your chosen one isn't connected, says when a shortcut is already taken by another app, and stops calling a failed auto-paste a success: if Accessibility access is missing, it says so and offers the setting.
**Crash recovery works again after the first recording of the day.** An internal flag was never cleared, which quietly disabled recovery of interrupted recordings and unfinished sessions for the rest of the run.
**Honest engine reporting.** If macOS has no Apple speech model for your dictation language — or hasn't downloaded it yet — Settings now says which of the two it is, instead of silently running Whisper. "Models ready" no longer reports success when only some models arrived.
**Export Logs goes straight to Downloads.** No save dialog, and the report now includes what Apple's speech engine offers for your language.
**Removed a toggle that did nothing.** "Use the invite's headcount" asked you to weigh a trade-off while both settings produced identical results — the speaker-separation engine ignores the hint.
**A microphone that drops out no longer takes the meeting with it.** If the mic can't be restarted after your Mac wakes up, the recording stays paused instead of failing — Resume or stop and save, your choice. And when the mic stops on its own mid-meeting, Daisy pauses and says so instead of showing a live recording with a frozen clock.
**Audio is never deleted while it's the only copy.** Retention skips recordings that have no transcript yet, "Delete all audio files" waits for a running transcription to finish, and a storage move that hits an error keeps the old folder in view instead of forgetting it.
**Edits made while Daisy is finishing up are kept.** Retitling, tagging or filing a meeting during the minute after Stop used to be silently reverted by the final pass. Not any more.
**A single bad stretch of audio no longer costs the whole transcript.** If one block fails to transcribe, Daisy keeps everything else and fills the gap from the live transcript. An unreadable archive part is reported rather than quietly skipped.
**Fewer wrong verdicts.** A recording that rolled into a second file was reported as "incomplete"; the "meeting seems over" prompt fired every three minutes when live transcript was off; the clipboard could be restored before a slow app had pasted your dictation. All fixed.
**Privacy filter placeholders never appear in your text.** Names and secrets are swapped for tokens before a transcript goes to a cloud model and restored when it comes back; the restore now tolerates the ways models reshape those tokens, polish passes never use irreversible redaction, and any leftover placeholder makes Daisy keep your original words. This also unblocks the transcript polisher on Russian, which had been dropping every chunk.
**Lighter on your Mac.** The widget stops redrawing when nothing is moving, the speaker-separation model loads only when a meeting needs it, and both models are released when the system is critically short of memory.
